Cold Jackets
Cold Jackets started in 2018 as a collaboration between old friends Mark Henne and Adam Johnson and resulted in the release of their first EP, ‘72/’73. In support of the EP, Cold Jackets toured extensively in the UK and United States. After a string of self-released recordings, the band released its first full-length record, Cold Jackets, in 2019 on UK-based label Doitthissen/Honey Bee Records. After returning from a third UK tour, the band began writing for their next full-length record, Affairs of the Heart. Inspired by events both personal and global, the album’s soundscapes reflect a more complex and mature nature while maintaining Cold Jacket’s signature rock swagger.
During the spring of 2021 the band began writing and recording with White Denim guitarist/vocalist, James Petralli. Between sessions at White Denim’s Radiomilk studio and the band’s own home recording space, LP 3 began to take shape.
“After our last release (Affairs of the Heart), Mark and I spent a lot of time talking about the next musical direction for Cold Jackets… we also spent a lot of time writing and demoing new songs that were inspired by our prog rock heroes of the 70’s.
While these songs were written out of pure inspiration and love for the music, it was important to us to give each one the time we felt it deserved to fully develop.
A year later, we began work on several tracks with producer James Petralli (White Denim). Suddenly we realized we had a whole albums worth of material ready and there was no stopping it from being released to the world.
Recorded between Radio Milk, Mark’s home studio and the living room of my dads house, HQS, I think is our best work to date. It highlights the magic of our collaborative chemistry more than ever. Musically and emotionally we gave it our all for every track, and reached new levels for the band and ourselves in the process. It’s creation was an amazing journey and I hope it’ll take you on one too.”
